      Good question: I’ve never been a fan of auto washes but lately I just gave in to the idea because of how practical it is. So far I haven’t noticed anything with the GV70. My other 2 cars haven’t been as lucky: an emblem fell off the TSX and a small wiper cover/clip from the BMW. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I recently smog my 95 Civic and it has 211K miles. She passed with flying colors, smog man said very low emissions. My smog needed to be on dyno so the cost was $130. I used to work at shop in the 90s that did smog as well. Always drive your car for about 20-30 min before doing the smog while the car is hot. Otherwise, it may fail.

    We just bought the 2025 GV70 2.5T Sport Prestige, Uyuni White over Seville Red/Obsidian. We're 2+ hours from the closest dealer so after completing most of the paperwork, including the loan app, remotely, they delivered the car to me and picked up our trade last Thursday evening. I bought my first new car over 50 years ago and have never, ever had service like that! The GV70 has far exceeded my expectations so far. We took it on a 100 mile drive over the Sierra Nevada's 9600' Sonora Pass on Friday and the car didn't appear to be affected at all by the altitude - it performed the same at 9600' as it did at our 2200' home. It's supremely comfortable (I like the firmer seats), quiet, more than powerful enough, and learning all of the technology will keep me entertained for at least a week or two! Thank you again, Juan Carlos, for your outstanding reviews. They were responsible for my seriously considering the GV70 after testing compact SUVs from Audi, BMW, Lexus, Acura, Lincoln, Mazda, Nissan, Porsche, and even Alfa and Maserati, and finding them all lacking in some respects. The GV70 checked all the boxes for me. (BTW, I'm a Porsche guy. I own a 968 and a 911 4S and loved the Macan's driving dynamics, but it was $25,000 more, comparably equipped, than the GV70. Even a Porsche guy like me must draw the line somewhere!)

    Thanks for review. Helpful as am considering one at this time. On warranty, if you opt to keep, contact dealership and get a quote on an extended warranty with a zero deductible. Should be around 3k give or take.

    • @JuanCarlosLTO
      @JuanCarlosLTO 8 дней назад

      Honestly, I haven’t heard great things about aftermarket extended warranties. I don’t know how long I will keep ours but I guess I’ll look into it when the time comes. I have heard of some manufacturers doing “certified” inspections to see if the car would be a CPO and then sell you the contract and you keep the car with peace of mind; maybe that’s what you’re referring to; Porsche does it.

    • @lss-jprep4980
      @lss-jprep4980 8 дней назад

      @@JuanCarlosLTO I have a 2019 G70. Just got quoted for that price to extend to 72/mth 100k miles. It’s through Genesis. I agree that aftermarket warranties should probably be avoided. We also have a 2017 Santa Fe with the extended Hyundai warranty. We had ac issues right after the 5/60 warranty expired. Since we had the extended it cost $0 to fix. Would have been around $2k w/o it. Overall we’ve had about $6k worth of warranty repairs for zero cost. It’s been worth it for us.

    • @JuanCarlosLTO
      @JuanCarlosLTO 9 дней назад

      It’s a bit on the higher end of current prices for the mileage. If it’s in good shape, yes. Mine has 245k now and it’s in really good shape. How much would I buy it for? I’d say it’s a $7000 solid car, maybe more if I’m willing to wait, maybe less if it’s a fire sale. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @JJ-mc8lu
    @JJ-mc8lu 12 дней назад

    I disagree these are slow. It's how you drive them. Put them in manual mode and hold gears and as soon as 4000 revs passes the i-vtec motor becomes a monster. Also, the chassis employs double wishbone suspension that only very expensive cars these days have. This car is a bargain!

    • @JuanCarlosLTO
      @JuanCarlosLTO 12 дней назад

      A bargain it is/was. It also has continued to be reliable after almost 2 years. I’m about to paint it. I was thinking of going with Lunar Silver Metallic (it’s a Acura color), that modern gray. I’m not a fan of color changing a car for all the details that must be addressed but it’d be fun… or stick with the current silver. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I traded mine after 2K miles. The seats are too firm… flares up my sciatica. It’s a great car! If one is interested, please please do a lengthy test drive. I lost a lot of money with this. Went back to Lexus. Btw, the car depreciation is sooo bad. . Being a new brand I guess.

    • @JuanCarlosLTO
      @JuanCarlosLTO 17 дней назад

      Oh wow, that was short lived! I totally understand what you mean. That’s why I bring it up so much in my videos. A test drive can’t tell the whole story. I wonder what’s the point with the firmness of the seats. I had a similar experience with the M-Sport seats on my 3 series; which was worse than this one because they were just as firm but even more bolstered along with a firmer suspension. You couldn’t literally never coast on the highway, the ride was so busy you couldn’t relax. This suspension is more forgiving which helps. Genesis depreciation makes it a great find in the used car market. Before the pandemic you could get great deals on pre owned Genesis all day. Yeah, you can’t go wrong with Lexus. They hold their value really well as well, especially when you hold on to it for a few years.

    I have the same car and model as you, 2023 2.5T Sport Prestige, and same reasons on why I chose that over the 3.5T instead. Slightly better mileage, and save more money than just a 75 more Horsepower powertrain. I've only put in 5k mileages on it, it's not much as of now. But I did picked up some stuff I noticed and I wish Genesis could improve down the line. The fingerprint reader is a waste of space in my in opinion. It should be on the gearbox or completely remove because I barely use it, the keyfob already detects the car once I'm inside and there's no need to turn it on with a fingerprint reader. The powertrain should be slightly more than just a standard 300 horsepower, and 3.5T models gets 375 horsepower, which is not a big improvement either, unless you go EV version. But that's just adding another $20k on the retail price. Still underwhelming in terms of horsepower. I do wish there are rear heated/ventilated seats in the back row seats. I have a relative who drives a 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid and he has ventilated/heated back seats (2017 Kia VS 2023 Genesis), come on Genesis, why skip out on that feature for luxury drivers? The one time where I was annoyed of my car was when I was reversing out from a shopping mall garage and the breaks auto-locked itself and the sensors were beeping & warning of a pedestrian crossing by behind me, but there were no one onsite besides other parked cars. I switched the gear back to drive, and then back to reverse and my breaks was still locked and warning sounds going off of a pedestrian. I had to turn off the car, and back on and it went away, which I thought that was really strange. I couldn't duplicate the issue after that, and wasn't sure if the sensors are properly calibrated? Aside from the car, the Genesis brand needs to disassociate itself from Hyundai. I've had one guy who liked my car, but until he approached and followed up with a snub comment, "But it's a Hyundai". Hyundai's do have bad reputation compared to Toyota/Lexus. On the other hand, I've had a lot of people who complimented my car and thought it was a Bentley. Also, I've had others approach up to my car from the parking just to take a closer look at it. Some people still never heard of Genesis either, just like how there are not much Lincoln brands or cars on the road. You definitely get heads turning when they see a Genesis.

    • @JuanCarlosLTO
      @JuanCarlosLTO 18 дней назад

      Such a great comment. I’ll probably miss to address each and every topic. The brand recognition aspect of it is very important. People who have a negative perception of Kia/Hyundai are probably some that never had a car from these brands and think they are what they were before ‘08ish? The brand has come a long way. And sure, it’s not perfect. But what brand is? We would all be driving around in Toyota/Lexus… great vehicles but can I try something else, different design language, different implementation of tech? I honestly don’t care if people aren’t impressed by our GV70; who am I going to impress, the valet driver? Like I say in the video, I’ve had many other premium brands and maybe among the main reasons why I went with our GV70 is because it’s not a BMW or Audi, or Lexus but it’s still premium while remaining sort of anonymous? Very interesting design, super interior vs the competition. And you’re right about the rear seats not having the option to be ventilated vs a 2017 Optima, the only thing I can think of is that when that car was conceived the stand alone Genesis brand wasn’t out, was it? 🤷🏻‍♂️ and I’ve noticed other brands dropping the ball in similar fashion… unexplainable Let me pin your great comment…

    • @JuanCarlosLTO
      @JuanCarlosLTO 17 дней назад

      Horsepower: I don’t have an issue with it. It’s within the competition. I don’t know much about engines but seems like 300ish HP/ 350-400 lb-ft of torque is what engineers are able to pull out of a 4 cylinder engine that uses 2.0-2.5 liter. I do agree with you that the 3.5 doesn’t offer much more to justify its existence. Granted, I haven’t driven it therefore I don’t know if there’s a perceivable difference between the two. I think without going with a version that competes with the AMG’s, M’s, etc, the 3.5 makes little sense. I find the drivetrain pretty adequate. I hardly ever push its limits. Being RWD bias, I can tell you that it makes very good use of its power vs any FWD based crossover even with AWD in the case of SH-AWD and or Quattro. It keeps the power to the ground to where to me, there’s not even a thought. My preferences land more in naturally aspirated vs turbo. I’m more old school and would love the 3.5 to be NA for just plain smoothness. Turbos are coarse, unrefined, but they’re here to stay 🤷🏻‍♂️ I do feel like EVs have pushed up the expectations in HP and torque way up to where we feel like anything in the 300 feels underpowered. My Model Y Performance was so outlandishly quick off the line it was ridiculous… it never got old.

    • @TimSmith-db1iu
      @TimSmith-db1iu 13 дней назад

      A few things here. I agree with you about the fingerprint reader. Genesis is not a part of Hyundai anymore, look it up. They separated about 9 years ago. While they still use their financing and distribution and some parts, they are operating by themselves. It will take a while for this to become common knowledge. Also, did you say that the Electric version has underwhelming horsepower, or were you referring to 2.5 and 3.5?. 485 hp and 0-60 in 3.7 seconds is pretty wild to me. Lastly, my Prestige has heated, but not cooling rear seats. It does have a massaging driver seat. It's pretty awesome.

    18 months 2023 GV70 2.5T advance owner .. Cardiff green / vanilla color .. 12K at 18 months . No issues .. I didn’t want the 21” rims due to the things you highlighted . I had issues with fingerprint ending up with a replacement head unit under warranty and no longer use that feature ! .. Otherwise no issues at all.. Interested your service interval was 5k .. it’s 8k in the handbook and Genesis in Las Vegas won’t service it any earlier .. Concierge service worked perfectly for me although I phoned for an appointment . Post 2023 models several key features were dropped from the advance model likely would have forced me to the prestige or another brand .. I do love the interested looks and comments still from many people who have never seen a baby Bentley lol😂.. love this car and hope it remains reliable as I want it to be a keeper

    • @JuanCarlosLTO
      @JuanCarlosLTO 18 дней назад

      Where to start with the service intervals… 🤣 I don’t know where I got the idea of it needing its first service at 5k. Looking at the manual it does say 8k. But it also says that it depends on the pattern of use which is even more confusing because, number 1, I called in to schedule it and they took it. 2, when I was at about 8k, the car gave me a notification that it needed service so I assumed that it was in advance for the 10k that I pulled out of thin air. So, when they did the 5k the car wasn’t reset and it has no real way of knowing if it has fresh oil therefore still defaulted to the 8k and again, they took it and performed the maintenance, so I’m lost 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Price wise there’s a 5k difference between the fully loaded Touring CRV and the very base model of the GV70. MSRP to MSRP. Which one has more wiggle room for negotiation? I’d say the Genesis. As far as what’s better than what it’s complicated. I’d say that in general, people trust Honda more than they’d trust just about anything else besides Toyota. But, Honda’s hybrid systems (which the touring is) isn’t as reliable as Honda would like it to be, at least historically. I don’t know if this last application is better. Time will tell. The 100k mile warranty from Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is a very strong selling point. Not to mention that the bumper to bumper warranty is longer than Honda’s as well.

    • @JuanCarlosLTO

      And the 100k only covers power train components.

    Beautiful car, I purchased a 2023 GV70 (Select trim) in September 2023, I’m at 12,500 and have the Capri blue. Overall I love the car, it makes me happy when I drive it. I previously had a G70 for almost 4 years and it had zero issues at 65k miles. I have noticed that my door lock sensor sometimes doesn’t work after I wash my GV70, after I drive it, it’s fine. I had one handle replaced, now I notice the passenger door handle is doing the same. Overall, car has been flawless. Good luck with yours!

      I’m probably not going to make a lot of sense: I was always a sedan person. At some point I was considering the G70 for its uniqueness and its competitive pricing. Years later I know am on my third SUV/Crossover. But I do miss the handling of a proper sedan. Are they less practical? For me, 99% of the time, no. Yet, here I am, following trend. I don’t discard a G70 when a redesign comes in a couple of years and leave this for wifey. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      I hardly ever have it like that since the it recharges (slower) when you plug it in for CarPlay. • @suppaman19
      @suppaman19 21 день назад

      Wireless charging period will heat the phone up. Energy literally has to transfer through the phones casing to the battery to charge it, rather than through a central circuit. If it's plugged in, you're better off shutting wireless charging off and just letting it charge while it's plugged in. I have my wireless charging shut off as the standard, and just turn it on if I need it since I always store my phone in the cubby.

I've had similar issues happen with the infotainment screen freezing with the 360 view. It happened a few times, and I managed to record it on video. I showed it to the dealership, but they couldn't duplicate it. They did a re-set of the software, which seems to have solved the issue. I'm also experiencing some rattling noises that seem to be coming out of the engine/drivetrain, but only when the engine is idling. Another thing I noticed is that when I've driven through torrential downpours in Tennessee, the fastest wiper setting is still not fast enough to clear the windshield. My car looks exactly like yours. Only it's a 2005 Honda Accord Euro/Japan model with the 2.0L, full spec. I bought it 7 years ago, as a temporary car, but I liked it so much, that I kept it as my daily. It is a reliable car still, with only very minimal maintenance (partly DIY). Ofcourse there will be some issues with such an old car. Replaced some wheel bearings, control arms, tie rods, etc. But aftermarket parts are cheap and widely available. I have been looking to buy a newer car recently, but I just can't get myself to spend silly money on a car that isn't even as good as the old Honda. I will just drive it untill something big breaks.

Mine is nearing 250k miles and is still super healthy. It just doesn’t make sense to sell it. I might even paint it next month and make it look even better than it already does. It’s super clean but the paint is a let down. I’m not a fan of aftermarket paint as it rarely matches OEM quality but this finish is toast.

      About the touch wash… I was never a fan of them. I still don’t like them too much. But the convenience is huge. I normally pressure wash my cars and use super soft microfiber clothes and never use brushes to clean it etc but I have given in to touch washes because of my busy schedule and how much I like to drive clean cars and it adds up $… I buy a yearly pass for each of our cars. The one I use is the conveyor system and in the past I remember them damaging the wheels with the rails but they have come a long way with how they use padding to prevent metal on metal. I use my own rags to avoid using their contaminated, greasy ones. We’ll see in time. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Thanks for another great review, Juan Carlos... I was eagerly awaiting your long distance report. Given that the brake squeak cured itself, it was likely caused by dust buildup and perhaps a bit of rotor glazing. Hitting the brakes hard a few times usually clears that up. That alarm was probably the controller losing connection with the vehicle controller but most vehicles will display a dash warning. Our CR-V does the same thing if I leave the fob in the door pocket, especially when the fob battery is low, but it only plays a single 'beep sequence' and then displays a dashboard notice. When I test drove the GV70, I actually liked the seat firmness. I owned a German car in the 70s that had the firmest seats I'd ever experienced and I loved them. OTOH, I wasn't trying for a marathon driving record so...😉 During our test drive, I found myself going way too fast on city streets. The GV70 was so much more quiet than our CR-V that it was really tough to judge speed. (I guess that's the one and only advantage of a vehicle that plays a discordant symphony of road, wind and engine noise!) Thanks again... looking forward to the next review!

    Juan here’s my take as an owner: seats are way too firm, my 2023 has a lot of wind noise on the highway, and I’m wondering if the larger engine provides a better ride experience. The 6 cylinder has laminated glass on the rear passenger windows whereas the 4 cylinder only has laminated glass on the first row. I don’t spot any wind noise as far as leaks from the door and or windows. There’s the inherent wind resistance sound from a vehicle that is high off the ground with a blocky shape. There’s no way around it. And seems like the 2025 refresh brings wireless Apple CarPlay. Thank you for your comment!
